A. Definisi
Recount text adalah jenis teks yang digunakan untuk menceritakan pengalaman atau peristiwa yang sudah terjadi pada masa lampau, seperti pengalaman berlibur, sejarah, atau sejarah hidup seseorang.
B. Generic Structure Teks Recount
1.Orientation, berisi tentang pengenalan tokoh-tokoh dan setting (tempat dan waktu)
2.Events, berisi tentang kejadian atau serangkaian kegiatan yang terjadi dalam report text
3.Reorientation, berisi tentang kesimpulan dari kejadian pada bagian event di recount text
C. Ciri Kebahasaan (Language Feature) Teks Recount
1.Past Tense (S+V2)
Contoh:
- I had a terrible morning yesterday
- I grabbed my coffee before I left to catch the bus
2.Menggunakan kata yang menunjukkan urutan kejadian
Chronological order: after that, then, next day, etc.
Contoh:
- After that, I walked down the street
- Then, we tried to catch the bus

Orientation
I had a terrible morning yesterday.
Events
Many things went wrong in that unfortunate morning. I grabbed my coffee before I left to catch the bus. When I got on the bus, I didn’t have my bus pass. I paid the driver with cash and sat down. After I put my bag down, I took a sip of coffee. When I took a sip, the bus went over a bump in the road, and the coffee spilled on me. I ran to the restroom to clean up before I went to class. Then I ran to class because I knew that I was already late.
Reorientation
To my surprise, when I got there, the room was empty. There was no class that day because my teacher was out of town.
